A study found that individuals with high levels of hostility commonly have heart disease, more so than in those with traditional risk factors such as high cholesterol, hypertension, high body mass index, alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking. So don’t get mad – get healthy.





Walking Lowers the Risk of Hip Fractures

A study of post-menopausal women found those who walked 8 hours a week at a moderate pace, cut their risk of hip fracture by 55%. Those who walked 4 hours a week had a 40% lower risk. Standing for 10 hours a week decreased the risk by 28% and over 55 hours a week decreased the risk by 46%.





Hypoglycemia and Brain Damage

Mild low blood sugar reactions which are readily recognized and promptly treated will not lead to damage. But repeated hypoglycemia that is long lasting may lead to brain damage and manifest itself as forgetfulness or other neurological deficits.





L-Arginine

The topical cream that contains the amino acid L-Arginine improves blood flow in the feet of those with diabetes. A pilot study compared arginine cream with placebo cream in 13 Type 2 diabetics, found a 35% increase in blood flow in the feet compared with the placebo group.





Statins

Mixing cholesterol lowering statins with the antibiotic Erythromycin could increase the risk of developing cataracts. A single course (10 days) doubled the risk and 2 or more courses tripled the risk. It slows the removal of most statins from the body and increases the blood levels of these drugs.
