Hello to all and happy summer! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations. I’m just enjoying the sunshine and dreaming of the beach. I’m happy to report that we had a successful spring program on April 5th with Choices and Change. We had a good turnout and positive feedback on the ability to put into practice what was learned. I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Linda Fevrier for coordinating this program.
We are currently working on a fall program dealing with women and diabetes. Your input and assistance would be appreciated. If interested, please contact me at debra.kulbacki@animascorp.com or contact Linda Fevrier at fevrierll@upmc.edu.
A reminder that there has been a change in chapter dues collection. Chapter dues billing will be included with the 2005 – 2006 AADE annual dues invoice. This will be mailed on May 15th and will be for fiscal year July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. If you did not renew online, your hard copy renewal notice lists WPADE as your chapter and chapter dues are included in your bill. If a new member joins the chapter mid-year of after May 15th, your dues will be paid directly to WPADE. Any questions concerning this processing can be addressed to me at the above email address.
WPADE is an organization founded by local diabetes educators with the following goals:
- Provide an atmosphere for the sharing of ideas, techniques and materials associated with diabetes education.
- Promote and foster the growth and development of quality diabetes education in the Western Pennsylvania area.
- Function as a network toward achieving common goals as determined by the general membership.
- Assume an active role in providing continuing education programs for the health professionals involved in diabetes education.
- Strive for continuing excellence in the quality of diabetes education.
- Serve as a resource to related organizations.
To meet the goals of OUR organization, we need the participation and assistance of all our members. Thus, we come to the quarterly plea for help. For the past year, the board has been requesting more participation from you, the members of WPADE. Terri Garcia has volunteered to serve as President-Elect/President for 2005 – 2006 and we are thrilled to work with her. Now, we need your help. We must have the positions of President-Elect and Vice President filled and we need more committee participation, especially on the program committee. Depending on your role, you may donate/volunteer one to two hours per month. We have every other month board meetings to discuss current issues and plan programs. Won’t you take some time to work with/for WPADE. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Deb Kulbacki
